About This Community

Serena Center Rosarito Independencia is an assisted living and memory care residence in northern Playas de Rosarito, around 18 km from the San Ysidro–Tijuana border crossing. The first of three Serena residences in Baja California, it has 20 private rooms on a 1,500-square-meter property with green spaces, interior gardens, and a multi-purpose activity room. Its quiet, country-like setting may appeal to U.S.-based families seeking care close to the border.

Assisted Living and Memory Care in Serena Center Rosarito

The residence supports older adults who need help with daily activities, including residents with limited independence or total dependency. It also provides specialized care for people with Alzheimer’s and other dementias. Both temporary and permanent stays are available.

Before admission, the team assesses mobility, bathing, toileting, and other daily care needs. Assessments can take place in person or virtually, although an in-person evaluation allows for a more accurate quotation.

Monthly Cost at Serena Center Independencia

Prices start at approximately $38,800 MXN per month. Monthly pricing depends on the level of care and room selected.

Nursing and Medical Support

Licensed nurses and nursing assistants provide daily care, with 24-hour nursing support and weekly physician visits. Medical oversight includes supervision by geriatrician Dr. Clemente Zúñiga Gil. Additional medical follow-up may carry a separate fee, quoted at approximately $80 USD every three months.

Staff receive ongoing training in first aid and emergency response. The residences have an internal civil protection program, controlled access, and 24-hour video surveillance.

Meals and Daily Activities

Residents receive three meals a day plus snacks, with menus adapted to their nutritional needs and preferences. The nutrition team works alongside kitchen staff led by Chef Ernesto González.

Physical and cognitive activities include stretching, exercise, painting, memory games, lotería, and dominoes. Gardens and shared spaces provide room for quieter afternoons and time with other residents.

Transport and Additional Assistance

Serena offers wheelchair-accessible transport through SerenaVan, which has a hydraulic lift. Transportation and accompaniment can be arranged for medical appointments, shopping, family visits, and cross-border trips, with advance booking required for some services.

Optional SerenaAid support helps families manage medication purchases, errands, and appointments through a revolving expense fund. Residents also receive Serena Full Assistance Card membership during their stay, providing access to assistance services and discounts with participating providers.

In-Home Care and Other Services

Beyond its residences, Serena provides in-home nursing care through Serena Living, with shifts ranging from four to 24 hours. Support includes personal care, medication administration, post-operative recovery, dementia care, and accompaniment.

The organization also offers day care with individual and group activities. Families should confirm which services are available at Independencia and which require separate arrangements or additional fees.

The starting price is $38,850 MXN.
