About This Community

Casa Zebra sits on a quiet, cobblestone street in La Floresta neighborhood in Ajijic. resident was rocking on the front porch, watching the street go by, which tells you a lot about the pace here. Step inside and the living room opens to your left, with the dining room and kitchen to your right, and a couple of residents’ dogs padding around. The common areas are generous, bright, and spotless, the kind of clean and orderly you feel the moment you walk in.

The home is all on one level, but it is surprisingly large. Just off the living room is a small room with its own bathroom and a garden view, set up for recovery and post-surgical stays, with the option of a hospital bed. Beyond it are two much larger rooms made for couples, each with a walk-in closet, a roomy bathroom, and a view of the back garden and pool, plus a comfortable mid-size room for a single resident with its own bathroom and a view of the terrace. Every room and shared space is kept impeccable.

The back of the property is the heart of it. The pool area is lovely, with a sun lounger, patio tables, and birds moving through the plants. Care here is hands-on and personal. The team keeps a close eye on each resident, arranges medical check-ups a few times a month, and takes people to their specialist appointments, errands, and a weekly social outing or activity. Most afternoons, residents head out for a walk along the Ajijic or San Antonio malecóns on Lake Chapala, often with the dogs in tow.

Casa Zebra is one of the more personal, pet friendly assisted living homes in Ajijic, suited to seniors who want recovery support and attentive daily care in a calm, beautifully kept home rather than an institution, with room for a beloved dog to come along. One practical touch that sets it apart for visiting families: the home accepts card payments alongside cash and bank transfers, which is unusual in this market and makes life easier from abroad.”
