Casa Viale

Casa Viale Mérida is a family-founded senior residence in Colonia México, Mérida, providing 24-hour residential care, daytime support and specialized assistance for older adults with different levels of dependency, including people living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. With capacity for approximately 16 residents, the residence maintains a relatively small care environment supported by professional nursing, medical, psychological and nutritional services.

Casa Viale’s approach was shaped by the founders’ own experience caring for their father after he developed Alzheimer’s disease. Their search for appropriate senior care led them to identify gaps in the options available to families, eventually inspiring the creation of a residence centered on dignity, professional care and emotional wellbeing. The original business plan was developed with support from the Yucatecan Institute of Entrepreneurship (IYEM) and the Metropolitan Technological University (UTM).

Casa Viale combines professional support with a family-oriented approach to dementia and senior care. Its team includes management, nursing staff, a physician, psychologist, cook and nutritional guidance.

Types of Stay at Casa Viale

• 24-Hour Residential Care: Permanent accommodation is available for adults over 65 living with chronic-degenerative conditions or other health needs associated with ageing.
• Day Care: Older adults can attend for approximately 8 or 12 hours per day, receiving supervision, occupational activities and daily support before returning home.
• Post-Operative Care: Casa Viale supports older adults recovering after surgery who need nursing, supervision and assistance during recovery.
• In-Home Nursing: Nursing support can also be provided in the older adult’s own home.
• Hospital Companionship: Nursing or care support can accompany older adults during hospital stays when required.

Nursing & Medical Support

• 24/7 Nursing: Professional nursing staff are available around the clock within the residence.
• Nurse-Led Direct Care: Direct resident care is provided by nursing staff rather than a separate team of non-clinical caregivers.
• Medication Administration: Nurses administer medications prescribed by each resident’s primary physician.
• Physician Support: A physician forms part of Casa Viale’s wider professional team, although permanent 24-hour physician presence is not part of the residential model.
• Psychology: Psychological support forms part of the multidisciplinary approach to resident wellbeing.
• Nutrition Guidance: Nutritional consultation supports the planning of balanced meals and individual dietary needs.
• Health Supervision: Nursing staff monitor residents throughout their stay and can respond when additional medical attention is required.

Admission & Personalized Care

Before admission, Casa Viale conducts an individual assessment to understand the older adult’s health, dependency level and daily support requirements.

Once admission is agreed, a meeting is held with the resident, family and care team to establish the conditions of care and identify any medication, personal supplies or other materials that need to be provided by the family.

Casa Viale uses its Personalized Guest Care Measurement Method (MMAPH) to structure and monitor individualized support. This system is designed to help the team match care services to each resident’s condition and needs.

Therapy & Activities

• Physical Therapy: Physiotherapy is included within the residence’s wider care program.
• Weekly Activities: Activities and workshops are held approximately three days per week.
• Visiting Instructor: On two days of the week, an instructor visits the residence to lead structured activities with residents.
• Saturday Physiotherapy: Saturdays include more intensive physiotherapy exercises focused on preserving mobility, muscle strength and physical function.
• Occupational Therapy: Activities are used to encourage physical movement, participation and cognitive engagement.
• Dementia Support: Structured activity and daily supervision support residents with cognitive impairment while helping them maintain abilities for as long as possible.

• Small Residence: Casa Viale accommodates approximately 16 residents, supporting a more personalized residential environment.
• Private Rooms: Individual rooms are available, with recorded pricing of approximately MXN $21,500 per month.
• Shared Rooms: Shared accommodation is also available.
• Room Availability: Availability varies as rooms become occupied or vacant, particularly for private accommodation.
• Adapted Care: Room choice and care arrangements are considered alongside each resident’s dependency level and individual assessment.

Dining & Daily Services

• Balanced Meals: Meals are prepared according to residents’ nutritional needs.
• Residential Meals: Food is included within the residential-care model, with breakfast and dinner among the meals provided.
• Cleaning & Sanitization: Resident rooms and common areas receive routine cleaning and sanitization.
• Personal Grooming: Basic grooming support includes assistance with hair and nail care.
• Laundry: Laundry for residents’ clothing is available, with additional charges applying depending on the service arrangement.

• Care Meetings: Family involvement begins during the admission process and continues as the resident’s needs change.
• English Support: Some nursing staff have basic English skills, while management can communicate more comfortably in English, making communication possible for families who do not speak fluent Spanish.

• Base Residential Rate: Residential care starts at approximately MXN $15,500 per month.
• Higher-Care Rate: Residents requiring more extensive assistance can pay approximately MXN $20,500 per month, depending on their assessment.
• Private Room: Private accommodation is approximately MXN $21,500 per month.
• Individual Pricing: Final monthly cost depends on the older adult’s care needs, mobility, level of orientation, fall risk and the amount of assistance required with activities such as eating and bathing.
