Casa Luz de Esperanza
A small home in a gated community in Marina Vallarta, where the owner lives as a resident herself
Quick Facts
About This Community
Casa Luz de Esperanza is a small assisted living home inside a gated community in Puerto Vallarta. Care starts at 22,000 pesos a month, roughly 1,320 USD, in a shared room, and 30,000 pesos, roughly 1,800 USD, for a private room with its own bathroom. Nursing care is priced after an in-person evaluation, since it depends on what the resident actually needs.
The owner of the house lives here as a resident herself, and her daughter runs the home. That arrangement means the person who set the standard of care is also living with it every day.
Care covers independent living, assisted living and memory care, with nursing available twenty-four hours a day, an on-call doctor, physical therapy and rehabilitation, and preventive health checkups. Day to day the care is delivered by a nurse and a physiotherapist, supported by kitchen and cleaning staff.
Accessibility here goes well beyond the basics. Bathrooms have grab bars at the toilet and in the shower, and at least one is a roll-in shower with a bath chair, so a resident who cannot stand can still be bathed with dignity rather than sponged in bed. Bedrooms have room to turn a wheelchair, and the house has an elevator, so no floor is off limits. For a family whose main worry is falls, or who is looking ahead to a wheelchair, this is one of the better-equipped homes we have seen in Puerto Vallarta.
The home is new and small, and it feels like a house rather than a facility. There are nine bedrooms in total: two private with their own bathroom, and the rest shared between two people. In total there is capacity for 16 residents.
Renovations are underway on a therapeutic gym and a pool, both close to finished. There is also a patio and terrace and a shared lounge with a television. The team organizes physical activities and in-house social events.
All meals are included. Personalized nutrition for special diets can be arranged at an additional cost.
Pets are not accepted.
