Shila's Home also accepts guests for short respite care and convalescent stays, including recovery after surgery, and offers daytime care for those who are not ready to move in full time.\r\n\r\nThe people who run it live on site and look after residents themselves, with a little extra help, and their own relative lives here too, which tells you a great deal about the care they give. There is a distinctly Mexican warmth in how the home runs, drawing on the way families here have long cared for their abuelitos under their own roof, with closeness, respect, and patience.\r\n\r\nThe house sits in the Fraccionamiento Agua Escondida in Ixtlahuacan de los Membrillos, halfway between Chapala and Guadalajara. It has a quiet advantage for families flying in from abroad, since the Guadalajara international airport is only 20-30 mins by car, much less than the drive from Guadalajara or Ajijic. \r\n\r\nFor families on a budget, whether Mexican families or expats settling nearby, Shila's House offers something rare, genuine one-on-one attention in a real home and some of the most affordable assisted living and memory care in
